This toolkit is intended for use primarily by those who are responsible for developing organizational policy within national and regional development organizations, including IPPF country Member Associations and their networks.
MenCare, Promundo and World Vision	A MenCare Father's Group Manual for Sri Lanka	This manual contains tested group education modules intended for fathers and their partners, most often spouses, in the plantation region (or tea estates). The purpose of this manual is to promote gender equality within the home and children’s healthy development and overall well-being. This tool by no means looks at every single dimension of fatherhood, gender equality, and family well-being, but rather offers a series of tested activities and group discussions that provide a strong foundation for addressing and transforming norms within families, communities, and, of course, masculinity.
USAID	Constructive Men's Engagement in Reproductive Health: A training-of-trainers' manual	This curriculum was developed as part of a USAID, Health Policy Initiative, that focused on building an enabling policy and institutional environment for constructive men’s engagement (CME) in reproductive health in Mali. This manual is designed to enable community health educators to incorporate activities related to constructive men’s engagement in reproductive health (CME-RH) in their daily work. This includes promoting dialogue among men and women to increase couple communication and shared decision making related to family planning and reproductive health. As such, it can be adapted in other settings, based on local needs.
The ACQUIRE Project/EngenderHealth and USAID	Engaging boys and men in Gender Based Violence prevention and reproductive health in conflict and emergency-response settings: A workshop module	This module is designed to build the skills of participants working to engage boys and men in gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and reproductive health (RH) in conflict and other emergency-response settings. This module is for personnel working in conflict and other emergency-response settings who are interested in engaging boys and men in gender-based violence prevention and reproductive health. This includes those managing or staffing reproductive health, HIV and AIDS, and/or GBV prevention projects in emergency-response settings or conflict zones. Specific audiences to consider targeting are NGO project managers, field staff, health sector coordinators, health promoters, donor representatives, local representatives of ministries of health, and community liaisons working for UNCHR or other U.N. agencies.
EngenderHealth and USAID	Engaging Men as Partners to Reduce Gender Based Violence: A manual for community workers	The three-day training programme outlined in this manual is one of the initiatives undertaken by EngenderHealth’s MAP programme in India. The manual reflects the global MAP philosophy of approaching men in a gentle, respectful, open minded manner. It is intended to help community workers to conduct a programme with boys and young men to reduce gender-based violence.
The ACQUIRE Project/EngenderHealth, USAID and Promundo	Engaging men at the community level	This is a manual to help participants develop activities at a community level to create a supportive environment for work related to male engagement and HIV and AIDS. The activities are intended for use with program staff from different organizations interested in working on male engagement and HIV. All of the activities in the manual can be used with groups of men and women .
The ACQUIRE Project/EngenderHealth, USAID and Promundo	Engaging men in gender transformation: Group education manual	This is an educational manual for working with men to question non-equitable views about masculinity and develop more positive attitudes to prevent unhealthy behaviors that put them and their partners and families at risk. It can also be used to train facilitators who will implement workshop activities with groups of men. The activities are intended for use with men of all ages, although some adaptations might have to be made depending on the ages of the men and the country and community context. These activities can also be adapted for use with groups of men and women. The use of these educational activities with men has resulted in positive changes in knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to sexual and reproductive health, including HIV and GBV prevention. This manual is a compilation of the most frequently-used activities from two educational curricula—Promundo’s Program H Manual and EngenderHealth’s Men As Partners (MAP) Manual. It has been adapted for use with groups of men and with mixed groups in such diverse settings as schools, youth clubs, military settings, and community groups all over the world.
CARE and Promundo	Journeys of Transformation: A training manual for engaging men as allies in women's economic empowerment	This manual provides group education sessions for engaging men as allies in women’s economic empowerment. It emerges from CARE’s experience, in Rwanda and elsewhere, that women’s economic empowerment works, but that it can be made to work better and to achieve even more movement toward equality when men are deliberately engaged as allies. The activities presented in this manual were developed through a process of action-research involving qualitative and quantitative methods and incorporating the responses, realities, and perspectives of women beneficiaries of economic empowerment (via CARE’s Voluntary Savings and Loan Associations, or VSLAs or VSLs) and their male partners. It was developed together with CARE-Rwanda staff, as well as with partners from the Rwandan Men’s Resource Centre. This manual provides detailed information on how to implement the activities. While developed in the specific context of Rwanda, the partners believe the activities and the approach are relevant for other settings and other women’s economic empowerment initiatives.
Patrick Welsh	Men Aren't From Mars: Unlearning machismo in Nicaragua	Chapter 4 of this document describes the themes of the CANTERA workshops. The chapter describes the methodology of the workshops, which helps the participants, after a critical reflection, to make commitments to transform personal and collective reality. The techniques and games used are also described. These are used with the primary aim of helping the participants to distance themselves from reality, in order to read it critically. The techniques and games were a basic educational tool for involving emotions, feelings and values in reflecting on and analyzing the different themes. Each workshop finished with the participants individually, and collectively, drawing up proposals for change.
EngenderHealth and Planned Parenthood Association of South Africa	Men as Partners: A program for supplementing the training of life skills educators	EngenderHealth’s Men As Partners (MAP) program is a global initiative designed to work with men on reproductive health issues within a gender framework. This manual is designed to be used by PPASA MAP educators to lead workshops with groups of men and mixed-gender groups. In many cases, the MAP life skills workshops will be incorporated into existing programs. For example, the Adolescent Health program might conduct a workshop of MAP activities. Various groups (parents, teens, women, men) can benefit from the MAP activities. MAP life skills workshops will vary based on each provincial office’s needs and the judgment of each MAP educator.
Institute of Development Studies	Mobilizing Men in Practice: Challenging sexual and gender-based violence in institutional settings	Mobilising Men in Practice brings together stories and lessons from this work, as well as some of the tools used by the Mobilising Men partners in India, Kenya and Uganda. It is intended to inspire and guide others who are committed to engaging more men in efforts to address sexual and gender-based violence within the institutions in which we live our lives.
Sonke Gender Justice Network	One Man Can Workshop: Working with men and boys to reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS	This manual is intended to be a resource for those working with men and boys on issues of citizenship, human rights, gender, health, sexuality and violence. The content of the activities is informed by a commitment to social justice, gender equality and engaged citizen activism. The activities are intended to encourage men to reflect on their own experiences, attitudes and values regarding women, gender, domestic and sexual violence, HIV, AIDS, democracy and human rights, so that they can take action to help prevent domestic and sexual violence, reduce the spread HIV and the impact of AIDS, and promote gender equality. The activities are generally simple to use and don’t require lots of prior facilitation experience.
Promundo	Program H	The Program H manual includes approximately 70 activities to carry out group work with young men (ages 15 to 24) on gender, sexuality, reproductive health, fatherhood and care-giving, violence prevention, emotional health, drug use, and preventing and living with HIV and AIDS. The manual is divided into five modules
SAHAJ	Working with men on Gender, Sexuality, Violence and Health	The purpose of this Manual is to serve as a resource for those working with men and youth (boys) around issues of Citizenship, Rights, Gender, Health, Sexuality and Violence. While the contents are guided by a perspective of social justice and equity, there is an attempt to be ‘male centered’ in approach.
CARE	Gender, Equality and Diversity Manual: Engaging men and boys for gender equality	This manual is designed as a continuation of CARE's other Gender, Equity and Divestity manuals. This manual aims to work with CARE staff members to explore the area of engaging men and how working with both men and women in a synchronized way reinforces and compliments the postivie change they wish to see through their gender equality programs.
The National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (USA)	Making the Peace: An Approach to Preventing Relationship Violence Among Youth	MAKING THE PEACE (MTP) is a comprehensive curriculum, training and organizing program for youth, educators, parents, women/youth advocacy agencies, criminal justice personnel and community members that was developed as a means to prevent male-to-female violence among youth ages 14-19. The MTP curriculum includes an organizers’ manual, teachers’ guide, 15-session curriculum and handout packages for educators, administrators and family-violence community-based organizations on preventing family/relationship violence in an entire school district.

The ACQUIRE Project/EngenderHealth, USAID and Promundo	Needs Assessment Package: for Male Engagment Programming	This package is designed for use by individuals, organizations and donors interested in carrying out a needs assessment to identify gaps in male engagement programming related to HIV and AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support in order to develop relevant and effective programs and/or policies for engaging men in HIV and AIDS
